Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. When her father's divorce from the family members, she was raised up by her mother, godparents and grandmother. As a young girl, Ford was battling obsessive/compulsive disorders and anxiety caused through word-related associations. Ford began to become interested in acting during her teenaged years, and enrolled in the National Youth Theatre. Ford was accepted into the Sylvia Young Theatre School. But after just a few days, she realized that Sylvia Young Theatre School was not the right place right for her. Ford decided to apply for admission to Central School of Speech and Drama and getting a spot after her third try she applied for and was awarded a place at Central School of Speech and Drama. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler, a regular character for Doctor Who. Ford didn't complete her degree until 1993. In 1991, however, Ford had made her debut on television in an episode of Surgical Spirit. At that time, Ford adopted the stage name Catherine Tate. Tate appeared in programs on television including The Bill, Men Behaving Badly and London Burning. Tate's regular involvement in the theatre has led to her joining The Royal Shakespeare Company, for the 2000-2001 Season. Tate became famous for her stand-up comedy, which were added to Tate's repertoire in 1996.
